Mysuru: Burglars, who gained entry into a house by breaking open the lock of the balcony door, have decamped with Rs. 40,000 cash, gold chain weighing six grams and silver articles, all worth about Rs. 1.10 lakh from the house.
The theft took place between Apr. 10 and Apr. 13 at the house of B.S. Puttathayamma, a tailor by profession at Dattagalli 3rd Stage ‘A’ Block in city.
As Puttathayamma had to attend her father’s ceremony at Bolare village in Mandya district, she locked her house on Apr. 10, handed over the house key to her neighbour and went to the village. When she returned on Apr. 13 afternoon, she opened the front door lock using another key and entered inside only to see the silver articles kept in the puja room missing.
Shocked, she then checked the room and noticed the lock of the almirah broke open and Rs. 40,000 cash, bank bonds and six-gram gold chain kept in it missing,. On inspecting the house further, she found that the lock of the balcony door broken.
Based on her complaint, Kuvempunagar Police, who have registered a case are investigating.
