Mysuru: Thieves, who gained entry into a house by breaking open the door lock of the terrace, have decamped with gold, silver and cash worth lakhs of rupees from the house.
The burglary took place at the house of one Narayanaswamy at Vani Vilas Layout in Vijayanagar 2nd Stage. On Feb. 20 morning, Narayanaswamy and his wife Lakshmi, left to their daughter’s house in Bengaluru. When Lakshmi returned to the house on Feb. 24, she found the almirah and the wardrobe in the room on the ground floor open and clothes scattered on the bed.
When she opened the almirah drawer, she found the gold ornaments, silver articles and cash kept in it missing and called her husband over the phone and informed about it.
Narayanaswamy, who rushed to Mysuru in the evening, inspected the almirah, found two pairs of gold earrings, three gold fingerings, two gold chains, 2 kg silver articles and about 15,000 cash kept in the almirah stolen.
On inspecting the house further, he found that the thieves had broken the terrace door lock with a sharp instrument, opened the door and decamped with the valuables, following which he lodged a complaint at Vijayanagar Police Station, who have registered a case.
