Madikeri: Housing Minister V. Somanna, who is also the Kodagu District in-charge Minister, has said that the houses built for the flood victims at Madenadu, Karnangeri and Jamboor villages will be handed over by the end of December.
Addressing a press meet at the DC office here on Monday, Somanna said that 635 houses including 300 in Jamboor, 35 in Karnangeri and nearly 300 in Madenadu are being built and would be handed over to flood victims by the end of this year.
Pointing out that the BJP Government headed by B.S. Yediyurappa has released Rs. 100 crore for taking up flood relief works, he said that the PWD, Panchayat Raj, Urban Development and Irrigation Departments are working for improving the civic amenities and other infrastructure in flood ravaged areas.
Noting that the Government is giving Rs. 10,000 to every flood affected family towards monthly rent, the Minister said flood relief works are being expedited at a brisk pace.
MLAs K.G. Bopaiah and Appachu Ranjan, MP Pratap Simha, MLCs Sunil Subramani and Veena Achaiah, ZP President B.A. Harish, Deputy Commissioner Annies Kanmani Joy, SP Suman D. Pennekar, ZP CEO K. Lakshmi Priya, Assistant Commissioner T. Javaregowda and other officials accompanied the Minister.
