Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that Housing Societies of the city are striving hard for time-bound allotment of sites to their members, the Federation of Mysuru District Housing Co-operative Societies leader D.T. Prakash has blamed Government policies for the delay in site allotment.
Addressing a press meet here yesterday, Prakash said that the Housing Co-operative Societies come under the purview of MUDA. Pointing out that there is not a single representative from Housing Societies in MUDA, he said that this has resulted in the failure to draw the attention of the Government body towards the problems of the Housing Societies.
Stressing on the need for making a Housing Society representative as MUDA member, he said that multiple litigations in respect of acquired lands is causing inordinate delay in formation of layouts and allotment of sites, for which the Housing Societies cannot be blamed.
Federation President J. Puttaswamy, who also addressed the press meet, said that it takes years together for getting sanction from various Government Departments and agencies for providing public utilities and civic amenities. Emphasising on the need for introducing a single-window system for granting various Government clearances and sanction, he said that such a measure will largely help in curtailing the delay in site allotment.
Puttaswamy also wanted the Government to endorse seniority of members at the District or Regional level Co-operation Department offices instead of at the Department’s State-level office. Asserting that Government policies and land litigations as well as delayed approval from MUDA were hindering time-bound allotment of sites to members of Societies, he argued that the delay in site allotment was not due to lapses on the part of Housing Societies.
Federation office-bearers Mahesh, Shantaraju, Nanjegowda, Mahadevaswamy, Krishnegowda, Annegowda, Narasimhaiah, Nagaraju, Mahadevaswamy, Channegowda, Manjegowda and others were present.
