Mysore/Mysuru: Hundreds of people participated in the ‘Dasara Heritage Walk’ organised by the Department of Archaeology, Heritage and Museums in city yesterday.
MLA L. Nagendra flagged-off the Heritage Walk from Town Hall and the participants were taken to various heritage structures and places including K.R. Circle, Devaraja Market, Dufferin Clock Tower among others.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Nagendra said that Dasara Heritage Walk is being organised since several years in order to make people know about the heritage structures in Mysuru. “While we move around the city in vehicles, we fail to look at the heritage structures and know about it. However, during Heritage Walk, participants will be accompanied with resource persons who will provide detailed information. Organising these events will help in educating future generations about the history and importance of the buildings,” he added.
Dasara Heritage Sub-Committee President Gopal Rao, Karnataka Exhibition Authority Chairman Mirle Srinivas Gowda, Heritage Specialist Prof. Rangaraju, Bharatanatyam Artist Vasundhara Doreswamy and others were present on the occasion.
