Hunsur: Superintendent of Police (SP) R. Chethan yesterday visited the house in the town, where a gang of five dacoits had looted cash and gold ornaments after tying and gagging the family members on July 26 night. The SP, besides conducting an inspection, also instilled confidence among the fear gripped family members.
Speaking after conducting the inspection, SP Chethan advised the public not to open the doors of their houses to anyone especially during nights. He also asked the public to confirm the persons through the window of their houses and allow them inside only if they know them besides asking the public to install CCTV cameras in their houses.
Suspecting that professionals had conducted the dacoity, the SP said that those involved in the dacoity would be nabbed soon.
ASP Shivakumar, Dy.SP Raviprasad, Hunsur Town Inspector Ravi, Rural Inspector Chikkaswamy and staff were present during the SP’s inspection.
It may be recalled that on Monday night at about 8 pm, a gang of dacoits had barged into the house of Mumtaz Ahmed on Club Road, who is the Proprietor of Suman Function Hall. The gang, after threatening the family, had tied the hands and legs, gagged them and looted Rs. 6 lakh cash and about 500 grams gold ornaments from the house.
