Mysuru: JSS Science and Technology University (JSS S&TU), formerly SJCE, under the Institutions Innovation Council (IIC), had organised an Ideathon Competition recently at their campus commemorating National Science Day celebration. A total of 65 Novel Ideas were received from the students of the University. Three ideas were chosen out of 13 short-listed ones by the jury.
First prize was awarded to ‘Army Tracker’ by R. Pavan Nayak, a student of 3rd year BE E&C branch. The student proposed the usage of local network instead of using GMS GPS module in tracking device for national security purpose. He was awarded with Rs.10,000 and a Certificate of Appreciation.
Second prize was awarded to ‘Smart Glasses for Specially Abled’ by Kartikeya Jois, Arun Louis and K.S. Rakshit, students of 3rd year BE E&C branch. They came up with an innovative idea of converting speech into visual display on special glasses to aide communication with hearing-impaired individuals. The team received Rs.5,000 as cash prize and Certificate of Appreciation.
Third prize was awarded to ‘Smart Travel’ by Shrihari Bharadwaj, A.R. Rohit and Sumanth Mahishi, students of 3rd year BE IS branch. They formulated the development of round maps for multiple locations to ease navigation. The team received Rs.3,000 as cash prize and Certificate of Appreciation.
The chief guest for the event, Dr. KSMS Raghava Rao, Director of CSIR-CFTRI, inspired the audience quoting success stories of great achievers and inventors.
Prof. B.G. Sangameshwara, Vice-Chancellor of JSS S&TU, Dr. Mallikarjuna Aradhya, President – IIC and Dr. B.S. Harish, Convener – IIC, were present during the event.
