IEEE Bangalore Section Chair-Elect 2025

Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. Munjandira R. Chengappa, senior technologist at Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), has been elected as Bangalore Section Chair-Elect 2025 in the recently concluded elections.

The Slate Nomination Committee (SNC) announced the results, declaring Dr. Chengappa the winner with 632 votes. The IEEE Bengaluru Section has jurisdiction over Karnataka and comprises three sub-sections located in Mysuru, Mangaluru, and North Karnataka. Dr. Chengappa will serve as Chair-Elect in 2026 and is slated to assume charge as Chair of the IEEE Bengaluru Section in 2027. A seasoned technologist and academic leader, he was appointed in July 2025 to the 9th Academic Senate of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).

With over 15 years of experience in telecom core networks, 5G Open RAN and cloud-native systems, Dr. Chengappa brings a strong blend of industry expertise and academic engagement to the leadership role.

As Chair-Elect, he has outlined a vision to empower IEEE members across Karnataka through innovation and collaboration, strengthen linkages between academia, industry and MSMEs to foster entrepreneurship and promote ethical, human-centred innovation aligned with IEEE’s global values.

He aims to reinforce district networks and sub-sections to ensure balanced regional development, advance Karnataka’s sustainability and technology goals and nurture youth, women and professionals as next generation of technology leaders.
