Mysore/Mysuru: Senior Director of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Bengaluru Regional Centre Dr. S. Radha has said that IGNOU has introduced several new courses from the current academic year.
She gave this information while addressing media persons at Patrakarthara Bhavana in the city, yesterday.
“IGNOU is a University functioning under the Human Resources Development Ministry and Department of Higher Education, Government of India and has been established to impart Distant Education in Higher Education. IGNOU is making efforts to build a better society through Distant Education and catering to the educational needs of 3.4 million students. In the Convocation held this year, 2,79,917 students have received their Degree and Diploma certificates,” said Dr. Radha.
Stating that IGNOU is introducing several new courses from the present academic year, the Senior Director said that “M.A. in Entrepreneurship, Sanskrit, Astrology, Urdu, Drawing and Painting are some of the new 29 courses that are being introduced from this year. In addition, Skill Based Post Graduate (PG) courses like Tourism Management, Arts, Commerce and Science courses have also been introduced. Students of SC/ST will be given concessions,” added Dr. Radha.
