Iha, celebrating Shishunala Sharif

Mysore/Mysuru: Iha, a unique programme celebrating the life and works of poet-saint Shishunala Sharif, will be held on Apr.27 and 28 at the following two venues:

1. Heritage House on Fire Brigade Road, Saraswathipuram, near Kukkarahalli Lake, on  Apr. 27 at 6.30 pm. For details contact Vishwanathan on Mob: 99729-62868.

2. Prakriti Food, opposite Wadiyar Architecture College, Lakshmipuram, on Apr. 28 from 6.30 pm onwards. For details contact Sangeetha on Mob: 94422-71525.

The programme is a celebration of poetry, language, music, spirituality and humanism. It is an attempt to use songs to open up spaces for conversations. The songs are in Kannada but meanings and contexts are given in Kannada, English and Hindi if the listeners need it.

Mridula, Ravi, Anish and Mritunjay are the voices behind Iha. They have been taking stories of Shishunala Sharif, a 19th century poet-saint to various spaces around Karnataka.

The performers are non-musicians from different walks of life, who have been learning and singing the works of Shishunala Sharif. This work is called Iha, meaning ‘here’ or ‘at the moment.’

For further details regarding the nature of performance, contact Anish: 98805-98062 or visit the blog: www.theihablog.wordpress.com, according to a  press release.
