Mysuru: The Second Pre-University classes began all over the State from today with most of the colleges in the city recording nearly 50 per cent attendance.
This is the first time the classes for II PUC has commenced a month ahead of schedule.
“The photographs of the colleges with the Principals, Lecturers and students attending the classes have been taken and will be sent to the Department of Pre-University Education, Bengaluru. While the lecturers were in full attendance in most of the colleges, the strength of students on first day was poor with most colleges recording about 50 per cent attendance,” said Deputy Director of PU Education (DDPUE), Mysuru District Dr. Dayanand, speaking to Star of Mysore, here this morning.
The attendance of the Principals, Lecturers and students have been sent to the Department as per the directions of C. Shikha, Director, Department of Pre-University Education, who wanted to collect the report of students and lecturers in all government and aided colleges, regarding attendance by 12 noon today, he said.
All colleges out of the 242 colleges in the District and 60 in the city, were open from today, which included government, aided, non-aided and private colleges, he added.
In the past, the Second Pre-University classes would commence in the first week of June. However, this time it has been decided to commence a month in advance to improve the results in the government and aided colleges, said DDPUE Dr. Dayanand.
