4,940 kg rice worth about Rs.1.39 lakh recovered
Mysuru: In separate cases, the District Crime Investigation Bureau (DCIB) Police have recovered a total of 4,940 kg of PDS (Public Distribution System) rice worth about Rs.1,39,360 which was being transported illegally and have seized the vehicles besides taking the drivers into custody.
In the first case, the DCIB Police, along with the staff of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, who were on their regular beat found a goods vehicle transporting 74 bags of PDS rice weighing 2,120 kg and worth about Rs.66,040 near SMR Petrol Bunk in T. Narasipur Police limits.
The Police, who have taken driver Ayub into custody, have recovered the rice which was being transported illegally.
In the second case, the DCIB Police have taken into custody Nayaz Khan, driver of another goods vehicle at the same spot for illegally transporting PDS rice.
The Police have recovered 2,820 kg rice worth about Rs.73,320 meant for public distribution.
DCIB Inspector Sunil Kumar and staff Harish Kumar, B.R. Sunil, C.S. Ramprasad, Chikkalingu, Food Inspector M.S. Kanteerava and staff took part in the operation.
