Mysore/Mysuru: In two separate cases, the Excise Department sleuths have seized liquor worth over Rs. 8 lakh which was being transported illegally in city.
In the first case reported on Monday night, Excise Police intercepted a car in N.R. Mohalla and seized 88.560 litres of liquor of various brands and 46.920 litres of beer being illegally transported.
Nagaraj, who was transporting the liquor was arrested and released on station bail later. A case has also been registered against Shankraiah, who had supplied liquor and also the owner of the vehicle.
In another case reported on Tuesday night, Excise Police raided a house at Hosakote village in Yelwal hobli and seized 25.920 litres of liquor and 7.800 litres of beer worth about Rs. 30,000. The liquor was stored at the house of one Srikanta in Hosakote, who was also arrested and released on station bail. Cases have been registered under Excise Act. Excise Inspector A.A. Mujawar led the raids under the guidance of Excise Commissioner F.H. Chalavadi and Deputy Commissioner S. Nagarajappa. Excise Department staff Manju and B.S. Gurumallesh, Constables N. Ajay and C. Prathap took part in the raids.
