Mysuru/Mysore: Police and other department officials have seized 1,592 kgs of rice worth Rs. 50,000, meant for Public Distribution Scheme (PDS), which was illegally stored at a godown in Subhashnagar in Bannur and the have arrested one Haneef in this regard.
Following a tip off that PDS rice was stored illegally at a godown to be sold in black market, the District Crime Investigation Bureau (DCIB) Police, along with the officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, raided the godown and found the rice being stocked illegally without permit and seized the rice bags besides arresting one person.
Superintendent of Police (SP) C.B. Ryshyanth and ASP Sneha supervised DCIB Inspector Sunil Kumar and staff Harish Kumar, B.R. Sunil, C.S. Ramprasad, Food Inspector M.S. Kanteerava and other staff who took part in the operation. A case has been registered at Bannur Police Station.
