Bengaluru: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts heavy rainfall across several districts in the southern hinterland, expected to span two days from May 8.
Areas including Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, and Tumakuru are bracing for significant precipitation. Meanwhile, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Uttara Kannada districts anticipate normal rainfall on May 9 and 10.
While the rainfall brings relief from severe heat waves in some areas, temperatures continue to soar in parts of North Karnataka.
Raichur recorded a scorching 46.4 degrees Celsius, closely followed by Kalaburagi at 45.8 degrees Celsius on Friday. Other districts experiencing high temperatures include Yadgir (44.9°C), Ballari (44.8°C), Vijayapura (44.7°C), Koppal (43.9°C), Gadag (43.4°C), Bagalkot (43.5°C), Belagavi (43.1°C), Bidar (43°C), Mandya (43°C), Ramanagara (42.6°C), Dharwad (42.2°C), Chitradurga (42°C), Kolar (42°C), Haveri (41.9°C), Tumakuru (41.8°C), Davanagere (41.3°C), Chikkaballapur (41.9°C), Bengaluru Rural (41.3°C), w (40.1°C), and Bengaluru Urban (40.9°C).
Despite the anticipated rainfall, the IMD warns of persistently high temperatures in several districts in the State.
