Sir,
This has reference to the letter titled “Augment public transport from extensions to city centre” by A. Shivaprakash in Star of Mysore dated Sept. 19.
I reside in Ramakrishnanagar H Block and we have made innumerable representations to various authorities. During pre- Covid period, we used to have bus route number 135 at 4.45 am from our area which used to pass through Sharadadevinagar, Mysore University, Metropole Circle, Railway Station and suburban bus stand and we could reach the bus stand by 5.15 am to catch a bus to Bengaluru.
Our representations to various authorities including KSRTC have fallen on deaf ears and we have to spend 10 times the bus fare amount for autos/cabs to reach bus stand in case we have to board a bus before 5.30 am. The reason given by authorities is that they do not have enough drivers and no collection which is totally untrue.
I have seen packed bus route number 135 from Sharadadevinagar to Railway Station during 2010 – 2013. From Srirampura Layout even today route number 53 runs at 5 am and there is direct connecting bus to Bengaluru at 5 am.
But there are no buses directly from this area to Railway Station and one has to go to city bus stand and come back to Railway Station. Route number 61 which used to run earlier days was cancelled during COVID period.
In this era, the citizens representatives and authorities have to think out-of-the-box for the convenience of the general public. Despite our several representations, our requests are not taken seriously.
I fully support the idea of Shivaprakash and request the authorities concerned to introduce buses on Ring Road also as this service will help a lot of commuters and avoid pressure at city bus stand.
