Mysore/Mysuru: The National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, in coordination with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Sustainable Development Goal Coordination Centre (SDGCC) and Department of Planning, Programme Monitoring and Statistics, Government of Karnataka, is establishing India’s first “SDG Centre for Youth Engagement.”
The Centre will be inaugurated at a function to be held at Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Hall, NIE Administrative Block, Manandavadi Road, at 11 am tomorrow (Nov. 21).
B.J. Puttaswamy, Vice-Chairman, Karnataka State Planning Board and Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to GoK, Department of Planning, Programme Monitoring and Statistics, will be the chief guests. R. Ashok Anand, Vice-President, NIE, will preside.
D. Sudhanva, Hon. Secretary, NIE, Dr. K. Raghuveer, Principal, Dr. H.S. Prasanna, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. Mukund Raj, UNDP, Project Head – SDGCC, will be part of the inaugural ceremony.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a collection of 17 interlinked goals designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and sustainable future for all.” SDGs were set in 2015 by the UN General Assembly and are intended to be achieved by the year 2030. They are included in a UN Resolution called the 2030 Agenda or what is colloquially known as Agenda 2030.
