Mysuru: Increasing the retirement age of Government employees from time to time by the State Government is very unscientific and is not helping thousands of unemployed youth. There are many youth who have completed their Post-Graduation and searching for jobs, but returning disappointed.
In a press release, Mysore University Research Scholars Association (MURSA) President B. Murthy has stated that the State Government had increased the retirement age from 55 years to 58 and then to 60 and now it is planning to further raise it to 62 years.
The State is not going to benefit anyway nor is it going to bring in any revolutionary changes by this move. Many of the Government employees who have reached the age of retirement are suffering from diabetes, Blood Pressure, liver and heart related ailments resulting in their productivity coming down, he said.
Instead, if the youth who are waiting for Government jobs are given these jobs, then they can work for the development of the State with vigour. If these steps are not taken then there will be unrest not only in the State but throughout the country with this growing unemployment problem, he warned.
MURSA Vice-President S.V. Chandramouli, Karthik, Umesh, Rajesh Kumar, Shivashankara-murthy, D.R. Prasad, Suresh Kumar, N. Suresh, M. Biligiri, N. Chandrashekar and others have urged the Government to drop the idea of increasing the age for retirement.
