Mysuru: – Following the call given by the All India Motor Transport Congress, demanding roll back of hiked Third Party Insurance premium and an end to toll collection on highways, among others, the Mysuru unit of Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Owners and Agents Association and other lorry associations have joined the indefinite nationwide stir from 6 am today in city.
Their other demands include abolish excess commission paid to agents through comprehensive policy. The truckers are also demanding that the Union Government implement a ‘toll barrier-free-India’ to make transportation hassle-free on highways.
Following the strike, movement of trucks have come to a standstill and the trucks were seen parked at Bandipalya, Railway Goods Shed and other lorry stands across city. With today being the first day it will not have much effect on the citizens as most of the essential commodities are stocked but would affect transportation of vegetables, fruits, flowers and other perishable commodities which arrive daily by trucks to city.
