Athletes repeat Tokyo’s double podium finish in men’s high-jump T63
Paris: India took their medals tally to 20 at the Paris Paralympics 2024 yesterday — the best ever in a single edition of Paralympics. Before this, their best performance came in Tokyo where India won 19 medals.
Indian athletes repeated Tokyo’s double podium finish in men’s high-jump T63 event with Sharad Kumar winning silver and Mariyappan Thangavelu claiming bronze medal.
On the other hand, Ajeet Singh and Sundar Singh Gurjar clinched silver and bronze respectively in F46 javelin-throw final. Deepthi Jeevanji won the 400m T20 bronze.
Earlier, shooter Avani Lekhara, who has already won a gold medal, finished fifth in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions final. In archery, Pooja Jatyan lost in the quarterfinal clash. India’s flagbearer at the opening ceremony, Bhagyashree Jadhav, missed out on a medal in her women’s shot-put F34 Final.
Now, India stands at 19th place in the medals tally with 20 medals — 3 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze medals.
