India completes a 3-0 series whitewash

Riding on Virat Kohli’s 59 runs off 45 balls and Rishabh Pant’s 65 runs off 42 balls, India defeated West Indies by eight wickets in the final T20I to clinch the three-match series 3-0 here at Providence Stadium yesterday.

After opting to field first, Men in Blue’s bowler, Deepak Chahar took three wickets and wrecked the West Indies top order. Chahar was well supported by Navdeep Saini who also clinched a couple of wickets.

However, Kieron Pollard smashed his 3rd T20I fifty and with Rovman Powell shared 66-run stand which helped Windies post a respectable total of 146 runs after a poor start.

While chasing a target, India suffered an early blow in the form of Shikhar Dhawan whose poor run in T20Is continued with another failure. Thereafter, K.L. Rahul played handsomely before being dismissed by Fabian Allen at 20.

After Rahul’s dismissal, Virat Kohli played a stupendous 45-ball 59-run knock when India lost early wickets. He hit 6 fours in his inning.

Later, Rishabh Pant didn’t make any mistakes as compared to previous matches and played a sensible 42-ball 65-run knock, laced with four boundaries and same number of sixes to guide his team towards seven-wicket victory over West Indies. He shared a 106-run stand with captain Kohli.

For West Indies, Oshane Thomas took two wickets while Fabian Allen claimed a wicket.
