Hyderabad: The third and final T20 International match between India and Australia at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium was abandoned due to wet outfield yesterday. With this result, the three-match series was shared 1-1.
The series-deciding T20I match was called off after match officials conducted multiple inspections and ruled that the pitch was not suitable for play.
India won the rain-hit first T20I after overcoming Australia by nine-wickets in Ranchi.
However, the visitors drew level with in Guwahati, thanks to a brilliant four-wicket spell from fast bowler Jason Behrendorff who helped the Baggy Greens to register an easy eight-wicket win. The T20 series was preceded by a five-match ODI series, which India won 4-1.
India will next play against the touring New Zealand in a three match ODI and three-match T20 series starting from Oct. 22.
