Mysuru: Japan’s Deputy Consul General in India Katsumi Maravo has said that the ties between Japan and India is growing by the day and the continuation of this cordial ties will make a big impact on further growth and progress of both the countries.
Katsumi was speaking at the first ever Japan Day celebration organised at Kautilya Vidyalaya here on Saturday.
Expressing confidence that such celebration will further bond the friendship between the two countries, Katsumi said that the time has come for sorting out issues concerning the educational, Industrial and other key sectors.
Kautilya Vidyalaya Principal Dr. L. Savitha said that the Japan Day is being celebrated for the first time in Mysuru and it is a matter of pride that Kautilya Vidyalaya is hosting the event.
Highlighting the objectives of celebrating the day, she said that there are plans to introduce Japanese language classes in the school.
The Japan Day was organised in association with Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Japan Foundation of Bengaluru and Japan Festival Trust. Marking the day, the school children wore Japanese traditional dress, thus sending a cultural message. On the occasion, students from the University of Mysore and Mysuru Institute of Interior Design,presented a demonstration on model houses of Japan and it’s industrial landscape. Earlier, the Japanese dignitaries were given a poornakumbha welcome, accompanied by folk dances. The event also featured a talk on Japan by noted Kathakali exponent Madhavi Menon and a colourful cultural programme presented by children of the school.
The winners of various contests held for school children, were given prizes. Japan Foundation’s Jun Arisuye, Japan Festival Trust Vice-President Yuki Oyi, Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industries Relationship Manager Anjana Seshagiri and others were present.
