Industrial Townships to come up in five zones

Bengaluru: Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani said that as a bid to promote major industries in tier-2 cities as well, the Government has planned to set up Industrial Townships in five zones of the State.

Replying to a question by JD(S) MLC C.N. Manjegowda in the Legislative Council yesterday, Nirani said that the Government is also considering establishment of residential complex close to these Industrial Townships under the concept of ‘Walk to Work’.

Maintaining that the Government will provide all necessary infrastructure for the establishment of Townships, he said that the cities to be covered under this plan include Tumakuru, Kalaburagi and Belagavi. The Government will extend all support and co-operation for investors who come forward for setting up large industries, he added.

Replying to another question on appointment of Kannadigas in industries, he said that as per Dr. Sarojini Mahishi Report, the number of Kannadigas should be 85 percent of the total staff in industries. Action will be taken against such industries who do not follow this norm, he asserted.
