Mysore/Mysuru: A one-day awareness camp on export was organised by Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC), Bengaluru, at Institution of Engineers-India (IEI), Mysuru Centre, on Feb. 20.
The camp, organised in association with District Industries Centre (DIC), Mysuru and Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI), saw the participation of industrialists and businessmen, irrespective of men and women in notable numbers.
In his address, Joint Director of DIC T. Dinesh said: “Earlier we had to go to Chennai to export industrial products. Now, with the Export Centre coming up at Kadakola near Nanjangud, the job of export will be made easy, with no need to travel far up to Chennai. Mysuru district with substantial quantity of industrial output is set to gain with this new facility, as in the year 2022-23, products worth Rs. 6,300 crore were exported from here, while in 2023-24 (April to November) Rs. 4,500 crore worth products were exported. In the last three years, there is a jump in average export value by five percent every year, with major contributions from 10 industries with textiles on the top of the list.”
The Central Government intends to build Export Centre in each district. A meeting under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner was conducted recently to discuss about the export of electronic goods. There is no bar on exporting only big products in the container, as even small products can also be exported in the container. But the industrialists should have the knowledge of the types of products from which they can look for profit after export. This helps in making more gains and easy movement of the products. The awareness camp proves beneficial in this regard, as it provides related information, added Dinesh.
Secretary of Mysore Industries Association (MIA), Mysuru, Suresh Kumar Jain said: “Export Skill Training Centre is being set up in Mysuru, that aims to generate ample opportunities. It is essential as Mysuru district has 180 industries exporting their products to various countries.”
MCCI President K.B. Lingaraju, Deputy Director of Export Information Centre Meghala, Deputy Director of VTPC Mansoor and others were present on the occasion.
