Mysore/Mysuru: Following a complaint from Mysuru District Child Protection Unit Officer N. Apekshitha, regarding sale of an infant to a couple from Tamil Nadu, Udayagiri Police have registered a case against seven persons including the biological parents of the baby and TN couple.
Details: Between February and March, one Shabir got the 15 to 20 days old baby boy, born to a couple at Kyathamaranahalli in city discharged from the hospital and brought the baby to a bakery in Kyathamaranahalli, paid the couple Rs. 1.20 lakh and purchased the infant. He (Shabir) then sold the infant to one Yashwanth, who in turn sold the baby to one Kumaresh, who later sold the baby to Raja Manikyam and Shobhana couple of Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu.
Shabir had got a certificate from the baby’s parents made from a notary for which Yashwanth and Kumaresh were made witnesses. The complaint states that the infant was sold to TN couple after they were made to believe that the certificate was the adoption papers.
Udayagiri Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
