Sir,
I am writing to formally request immediate road safety measures on Nelson Mandela Road in Bannimantap, where the absence of proper traffic control mechanisms has made it extremely hazardous for pedestrians to cross the road.
Due to increasing vehicular speed and a lack of regulated crossing points, the area has witnessed numerous near-misses and several unfortunate accidents in recent weeks. Commuters, especially the elderly, school children, and daily workers, find it nearly impossible to cross safely.
We urge the authorities to consider installing speed humps to control speeding or erect a traffic signal or pedestrian crossing at key points along the road.
Such measures would go a long way in preventing further mishaps and ensuring the safety of both pedestrians and motorists. Hope the authorities concerned will look into this issue and take prompt action.
