Mysuru/Mysore: The 39th Anniversary of Institute of Mother and Deaf Child was celebrated at the School premises in Bogadi recently under the aegis of Parents’ Association of Deaf Children (PADC) and Rotary West & Parents’ Association of Deaf Children (RWPADC) Trust.
The cultural programme was inaugurated by Dr. A. Ramesh, ENT Surgeon, St. John’s Hospital, Bengaluru; Praveen Jain, Secretary, Jain Charitable Trust; B. Lohia, Chairman, RWPADC Trust and Rtn. Reginald Wesley, President, Rotary West.
Students undergoing training in the Institute presented various cultural programmes and the highlight was the play “Dhruva” which mesmerised the audience. Later in the stage programme chaired by B. Lohia, chief guest Prof. M.R. Doraiswamy, Chancellor, PES University, Bengaluru, praised the activities of the Institute and announced a donation of Rs. 5,00,000 to the Institute on behalf of PES Education Trust.
Praveen Jain recalled his association with the Institute since its inception and assured to lend a helping hand to the Institute whenever necessary.
Dr. Ramesh briefed on recent innovations in treating the hearing impaired. Certificates were distributed to children and mother passing out of the Institute after finishing their training.
Twelve meritorious students who excelled in various exams in previous academic year were honoured with cash prize sponsored by Dr. Indira Nair.
Scholarships were distributed to 15 old students who are presently continuing their education in various mainstream schools and colleges. All the office-bearers, old students and parents were present, according to a press release from PADC Secretary.
