Mysuru: Insulin injections and the anti-Rabies vaccine will now be available at affordable prices at ‘Jan Aushadhi’ outlets across the country including the city from Oct.9.
Speaking after releasing the two medicines at a private hotel here on Saturday, former Minister S.A. Ramdas said that there were only 500 Jan Aushadhi outlets in the country in 2012, but now there are 2,450 outlets with Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking the initiative to make quality medicines available at affordable prices to the poor.
Explaining the significance of Jan Aushadhi outlets at a time when branded medicines are becoming costlier in the country, Ramdas maintained that Jan Aushadhi outlets never compromise with quality as it is the motto of these outlets to deliver quality medicines at lesser prices.
Ramdas further said that 300 more medicines will soon be dispensed from these outlets and added that the Union Government was also mulling to sell surgical instruments through these outlets.
MP Pratap Simha said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken the initiative to make available expensive medicines to the poor at very affordable prices.
Pointing out that the PM’s initiatives must reach the targeted beneficiaries, the MP said that it was the responsibility of the party workers to ensure that the PM’s programmes reach every door step.
