Inter-Collegiate ‘Project Expo’ held at GSSSIETW

Mysuru: The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), Mysuru, hosted Project Expo, an Inter-Collegiate Competition, recently under its IETE Students Forum.

The expo aimed to enhance and motivate students by providing an opportunity to select topics of interest, develop their own scientific investigations and models, and highlight the opportunities and challenges in the field of engineering.

 It also offered insights into future procurement plans and examined various technology options and strategies.

The primary objective of the competition was to create a forum for showcasing technical challenges in Electrical, Electronics, Communication, Information Technology and related fields. The students presented their innovative projects and demonstrated their learning experiences.

As many as 71 project titles from various institutes across Karnataka, to name a few like PESCE (Mandya), ATME (Mysuru), VVCE (Mysuru), VVIET (Mysuru), JSSSTU (Mysuru), MITM (Mysuru), RIT (Hassan) and GSSSIETW (Mysuru) took part in this event.

The projects were assessed by external industry experts, with attractive cash prizes and appreciation certificates awarded to the top-performing groups based on evaluation criteria.

The Project Expo concluded with a valedictory function. The event began with a welcome address by Sahithya Dechamma, a student of V semester ECE.

Dr. K. Anitha, Coordinator of IETE Student Forum, Asst. Professor of ECE Department, provided details to IETE students. 

The Jury members were  Pankaj Sancheti, Deputy General Manager, Birla Opus, Chamarajanagar and  H.R. Vinod, Senior Embedded Engineer at Pravega Semi Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru.

They emphasised the importance of applying theoretical knowledge to develop unique solutions for projects and advised students to think like product engineers, which would benefit them during placements.

Following the judges’ addresses, prizes were distributed to the winners.

Dr. M. Shivakumar, Principal of GSSSIETW, highlighted the importance of undertaking mini projects, noting that the experience and knowledge gained during their implementation are invaluable. He stressed that better team coordination often leads to success and that participation in competitions helps students upgrade their knowledge and skills. He congratulated all the winners and participants of Project Expo. 

Dr. Rajendra R. Patil, Professor & Head, Dept. of ECE, was present at the function. Reddy Sushma, VII semester ECE student, proposed a vote of thanks. A.V. Moksha Dechamma was the Master of Ceremony.
