Profile: K. S. Nagasundara is one of the last surviving experts in the field of printing with a link to the history of this great field. Born on Oct. 13, 1932, in a very poor family in Kuderi, he passed his SSLC from Marimallappa’s High School staying in the Kyathanahalli Hostel here. He was distributing a newspaper that cost three paise, at homes every evening.
Nagasundara bid goodbye to studies after SSLC and managed to get a job in Panchacharya Press for a salary of Rs. 4. He even got married to a 12-year-old-girl, when he himself was just 16 or 17.
He started Gayathri Press and right from the block printing days, his struggles in life continued in the printing field as he worked day and night. He brought up his children, earned wealth, fame in the profession and served the society.
This octogenarian, who is now paralysed waist down, is still mentally strong and involved in reading books and meditation.
