Mysore/Mysuru: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Yi Mysuru Chapter, celebrated World Sign Language Day recently.
Kanchan S. Sharma, an expert trainer in sign languages, demonstrated basic sign language communication to school children from Capitol Public School, Mysuru, virtually.
More than 65 school children learnt basic signs to communicate such as Weekdays, Numbers & Alphabets with Nonverbal Communication.
These children were from the age group of 14 to 16 years and learnt how to communicate effectively on basic gestures and hand movement to help differently abled people at public places. This new initiative will help to adopt ways in providing equal access and equal opportunity to differently abled people.
Kanchan Sharma developed passion for sign language while supporting candidates with hearing impaired to get placed in various organisations. She was also supporting candidates at JSS Polytech for Differently Abled to get their initial training after placement.
A total of 65 students along with the Principal of the school Annie Joseph and few faculty members, Nikhil P. Koundinya, Co-Chair Yi Mysuru, other Members of Yi Mysuru were present, according to a press release.
