New Delhi: The Scheduled Tribe Commission has started an internship programme for the students, in which they will get an opportunity to know more about the Scheduled Tribes Community.
This is the first time that such an initiative has been taken by the Commission.
Under this programme, students from different States across the country had applied. According to the information, the Commission had recently sought applications from students for the three-month internship programme on its website.
Hundreds of students had applied for the internship programme. These applications were scrutinised and 30 students were selected out of them.
Students from the Universities of States, including Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Orissa and Maharashtra had applied. The selected students will be given information about the Tribal Community and subjects related to them for the first one week.
Academics, Teachers from various Universities and Experts in tribal affairs will brief the students about this for a week. After this, the students will be sent to tribal areas in different States.
The students will stay there for three months and work in between the tribal people, study their problems, amenities and will make reports on the decided issues.
The accommodation, travel and food arrangements of the students will be made by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes.
The purpose of this internship is to provide experience to the students of working in the tribal areas and in between the tribal people.
