Mysuru: The Institute of Gandhian Studies, Manasagangothri, will be hosting a 3-day International conference on ‘Sustainable Rural Development — Opportunities and Challenges’ from Aug. 28 to 30.
Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, the Institute Director Dr. S. Shivarajappa said that Union Minister Ramesh Jigajinagi will inaugurate the conference at 11am tomorrow (Aug. 28).
RDPR Minister H.K. Patil, State Planning Commission Vice-Chairman C.M. Ibrahim, Sri Lanka’s Science & Technology Advisor S.K. Cyril Suduwella and others will take part. Representatives from various countries such as Sweden,Thailand, Iran and Turkey will take part, he said and added that the representatives will visit model villages of Mysuru district on Aug. 30. State Planning Commission member and Conference Co-ordinator Dr. K. Shivachittappa was present on the occasion.
