Mysuru: Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL) Scientist Er. A. Ramakrishna was awarded Gold in ‘Polymer Composite for Innovative Use in Defence’ during the recently held 10th International Conference Plasticon-2018, Empowering Sustainable and Profitable Growth, held at Gandhinagar in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Presently, Head (Research Appliances) and a Senior Principal Scientist of DFRL, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Mysuru, he has 34 years of experience in development of polymer composites, food processing on functional, nutritional foods its process, systems and packaging systems including Altitude Specific, Mechatronics, Ready to Eat Food Technology, Dairy technology, Agri-food processing, Anti-microbial Coats, Modelling, Rapid Prototyping, Nano-Technology, Agricultural Engineering, Environment-friendly Breathable Packaging for fruits, Vegetables, Renewable/ non-renewable energy equipment.
He has developed innovative food engineering systems with polymer composites, demonstrated and installed based on armed force requirements for use in high altitude locations, deserts, Naval ship galley, Marcos and Commandos.
His focus on composite polymer product innovation for armed forces with civilian spin-offs have helped in state-of-the-art technologies transferred to the Indian industries generating huge revenues, also is an Import substitute. His numerous accomplishments are evident from 11 patents, 91 publications and Invited lectures delivered in national/international journals/symposia. He has developed/Upgraded 105 Nos Food Processing and Packaging Machineries benefiting organisations and Indian food industries.
