Mysuru: The Civil Engineering Department of the National Institute of Engineering (NIE), as part of its biannual National-Level Technical Fest ‘AAKAR’ has organised a two-day International Symposium on ‘Traffic Engineering and Management and Disaster Management’ at its premises in city on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
The aim of AAKAR is to promote the creative instincts of students in the field of civil engineering through various inter-collegiate competitions.
The objective of the symposium is to provide an exposure to the current and future trends in traffic engineering and disaster management. It comprises lectures and interactive sessions by eminent speakers.
The Speakers include C.V. Shashikumar, President, C.V. Associates, New York; Dr. K. Ramachandra Rao, IIT, Delhi; Dr. Aravind Krishnaswamy, IIT, Delhi; Chethan Vishwanath, Senior Engineer, L&T Ltd. Dubai; Dr. Suvir Singh, Principal Scientist, CBRI, Roorkee; Dr. Sudhir Kumar Barai, IIT, Kharagpur and M. Mohan Kumar of FOSROC.
AAKAR run
A 5-km Marathon AAKAR RUN with the theme “Pedestrian Safety”, will be held on Aug. 26 at 6.30 am. It will be flagged off by MP Pratap Simha at the Golden Jubilee Block of NIE. DCP Dr. Vikram V. Amathe will be the guest of honor. For the first time, about 50 Police personnel will participate in the run.
INNVOBUILD-2018 expo
An exhibition of building materials and interiors “INNVOBUILD-2018” is also organised and is open to public on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1
A cultural evening by students will be held on Aug. 31 and a musical evening by renowned artist Rajesh Vaidhya on Sept. 1 at 7 pm at NIE premises.
