‘Involve in Scout movement to develop service-mindedness’

Mysuru:- Bharat Scouts and Guides State Chief Commissioner P.G.R. Sindhia called upon the youth to involve in Scout movement to develop service-mindedness towards society.

Addressing the gathering at the Mysore Scouting Centenary (1917-2017) valedictory function held at Sri Jayachamarajendra Scouts and Guides Bhavan, here yesterday, he said that hundred years ago the Mysuru Maharajas gave a fillip to the Scout movement in Mysuru by starting an office here.

There are more than five lakh members today in the State and this movement is there in more than 200 countries in the world, he said. The two-day centenary function included rallies by Rangers and Rovers. Yesterday morning, Cubs, Bulbuls, Scouts and Guides took out rallies. A lot of adventure sports were also held. More than 2,000 Scouts  and Guides participated.

Exhibition: District Chief Commissioner P. Vishwanath inaugurated the exhibition related to Scouts and Guides. The exhibition featured the collections of dresses and flags of Scouts and Guides by District Resident Commissioner (Scouts) Dr.B.K. Ajaykumar Jain. The posters of the way the Scout and Guides movement progressed was also displayed. One of the eye-catching photographs was that of Mysore’s first Cub Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, the last ruler of Mysore. There were also T-shirts of 218 countries with various messages.

Organisation’s District Secretary Abdul Jameel, District Jt.  Secretary Sujay and others were present.
