Is this the honour we are giving to Ta.Ra.Su?

Mysuru: Among the many Circles that found new names in city is the Akashavani Circle that has been rechristened as Ta.Ra.Su Circle.

Ta.Ra.Su or Ta.Ra. Subba Rao is a noted Kannada littérateur (Taluku Ramaswami Subba Rao) and is considered as a harbinger of the Navya movement of Kannada literature.

The Akashavani Circle is near the Cheluvamba Park at Yadavagiri and has been renamed in honour of Subba  Rao who has contributed a lot to the society through his writings. But unfortunately, after renaming the Circle, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has forgotten about it.

Due to footpath works, the name board that carried the name of Ta.Ra.Su was uprooted by an earth mover for it to be restored later. But even after the completion of the footpath works, the name board has not been restored. It is lying broken on one side of the footpath.

The name board, installed amidst mush fanfare, is lying in a state of neglect near an apartment complex nearby. Seeing the state of the name board, people have questioned the rationale behind the renaming of a Circle when the MCC cannot maintain it.

Does Ta.Ra.Su, who has given novels – most of them have been made as super hit movies – like Hamsageetha,  Chandavalli Thota, Nagarahavu, Benkiya Bale, Gaali Maathu, Masanada Hoovu deserve this fate?
