Mysore/Mysuru: Accusing the city-based KSOU (Karnataka State Open University) of making moves to issue degrees to 77,000 students of 2012-13 batch of its now terminated Academic Collaborative Institutions in violation of UGC/DEC (University Grants Commission/ Distance Education Council) orders, Karnataka Rajya Hindulida Vargagala Jagrutha Vedike, held a postcard (addressed to Karnataka Governor) campaign in front of the MCC Main Office on New Sayyaji Rao Road here yesterday.
Addressing the protesters, Vedike President K.S. Shivaramu claimed that the KSOU authorities are trying to issue degrees to thousands of 2012-13 batch students of its now terminated Academic Collaborative Institutions, though unrecognised by New Delhi’s DEC and UGC.
Noting that a Special Leave Petition (SLP) on the issue is still pending in the Court, he accused the KSOU of making silent moves to issue degrees to 2012-13 students, without orders from the Court or directions from the Government.
Calling for the intervention of the Governor on the issue, Shivaramu said that the postcard campaign is aimed at urging the Government to issue directions to KSOU to stop the issuance of degrees. He also wanted action on the recommendations of Justice Bhaktavatsalam Report, which probed alleged irregularities in KSOU.
Vedike office-bearers Lokesh kumar, R.K. Ravi, Harish Moganna and others were present.
