Mysuru girl Dhruthi T. Venugopal, representing India in the Women’s ITF $15,000 Tennis Tournament at Bhopal, won her pre-quarterfinals Singles tie against sixth seeded Indian Ruthuja Bhosale 6-3, 6-0 in a tie which lasted for one hour and one minute and sailed into the quarter-finals yesterday. In the quarter-finals, unseeded Dhruthi Venugopal will meet sixth seeded Riya Bhatia of India.
In the first round, Dhruthi had scored a comfortable 6-0, 6-2 win over wild card entrant Ganeshi Aniya.
Earlier on Tuesday, India’s Sai Samhitha Chamarathi and Shweta Chandra Rana combined well to beat Dhruthi Venugopal and Riya Bhatia 6-2, 2-6, 10-5 in the Women’s Doubles pre-quarterfinal tie which lasted for one hour and two minutes.
