Benglauru: The State Government has formally granted permission for Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) to host Indian Premier League (IPL) matches at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here from Mar. 28.
During a meeting presided by Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar at Vidhana Soudha this morning, the State Government constituted Expert Committee presented its report outlining the preparedness and compliance measures undertaken.
“Based on the recommendations of the Committee and after reviewing the arrangements, the Home Minister formally accorded approval for the conduct of the upcoming IPL matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium,” stated a press release from KSCA Official Spokesperson Vinay Mruthyunjaya.
He also mentioned that KSCA would extend full co-operation to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in hosting the IPL matches in a safe, well-coordinated and professionally managed manner, ensuring a memorable experience for cricket lovers.
Today’s meeting was attended by Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, KSCA President Venkatesh Prasad, representatives of RCB, DNA and others.
It may be recalled, the State Government had imposed a ban on hosting matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium following the death of 11 youths and injuries to others during RCB’s IPL victory celebrations on June 4 last year.
