Mysuru: The Dasara Executive Committee, which is hosting Dasara Cultural Events 2018, has made all preparations to make this year’s event more attractive and successful by inviting national and internationally-acclaimed dancers, musicians and folk troupes.
The Committee has the theme ‘Janapada Jathre’ to reflect the rich folk art and culture of the land with music and dance from Oct.10 to 18 at Mysore Palace, Jaganmohan Palace, Town Hall, Kalamandira, Kiru Rangamandira, Ganabharathi and near Small Clock Tower.
Speaking to press persons after releasing Dasara Cultural Event posters for 2018 at Zilla Panchayat Hall recently, District Minister G.T. Devegowda said Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy will inaugurate the event on Oct.10 at Mysore Palace at 6 pm. On the same day, the CM will confer State Sangeetha Vidwan Award-2018.
Noted playback singers Dr. S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Anuradha Paudwal and Music Director Mano Murthy will perform on the inaugural day.
Lalgudi G.J.R. Krishnan and Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi will present a violin recital while well-known artiste Lakshmi Gopalaswamy will perform a dance, Dr. Veenamurthy Vijay will stage a dance-drama on the theme Gaja Gowrava, Musician Pt. Narasimhalu Vadivati will play clarionet.
Noted artistes Dr. Kadri Gopalnath and Pandit Ronu Majumdar will perform saxophone-flute duet. Pt. Vidyabhushan will also take part in the music fest.
Andaman-Nicobar cultural troupe from South Zone Cultural Centre will perform Nicobar Dance; Arunachal Pradesh folk artistes will perform Monkho Dance which is performed during Chingdang festival by the Sajalong tribe of West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. Dancers from Madhya Pradesh will perform Badhai-Baredi, Kerala team will perform Mohiniyattam and Rajasthan folk artistes will display Kalweli dance.
Other than these, Shakthidhama children will present a dance feature at Dasara cultural event.
