Jannik Sinner holds up the Men’s Singles Trophy after his victory over Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in the Wimbledon final yesterday.

London: World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has dethroned World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz to clinch the Wimbledon 2025 Men’s Singles title.

Sinner beat Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 6-4 to become the first Italian man to win Wimbledon in the competition’s 148-year history. It ends Alcaraz’s dreams of winning a hattrick of Wimbledon titles, and gives Sinner his fourth Grand Slam. Sinner also becomes the first man to beat Alcaraz in a Grand Slam final. After five straight wins for Alcaraz, Sinner finally clinched a huge victory in the head-to-head record between the two.

In the match, Alcaraz came back from 2-4 down to break Sinner twice and clinch the first set 6-4. However, Sinner showed nerves of steel to break Alcaraz at crucial junctures, winning three sets in a row to claim his first Wimbledon crown.

Eighth seeds Elise Mertens and Veronika Kudermetova defeated fourth seeds Jelena Ostapenko and Hsieh Su-wei in the Wimbledon Women’s Doubles final 3-6 6-2 6-4 yesterday to win their first Grand Slam title together.
