Jashn-e-Urdu at Farooqia College

Mysuru: Farooqia PU College, Eidgah, Mysuru, celebrated “Jashn-e-Urdu” recently. S. Moinuddin Pasha, President, United Minority Credit Co-operative Society, Mysuru, who was the chief guest, urged the students to work hard. 

Prof. Afroz Ahmed, Member, Council of Farooqia PU College, presided and recalled the role played by various poets in the development of Urdu language.  

Prof. M. Sayeed Ahmed, Hon. Secretary, read the citation of Moinuddin Pasha, who was felicitated for his social service through his association with a number of organisations in city and as a Member of Karnataka Urdu Academy in 2017-18. 

He has authored about five books — Surma baseerath, Hamare Khandani , Nasab nama , Tareeq Auquf-e- Mysore, Memaran-e-Mysore and urs-e- Huzrath Tipu Sultan Shaheed (R.A)  tareeq ke aaeyne me. 

  Prof. Riyaz Ahmed, President, Rifahul Muslimeen Educational  Trust, presented memento to Pasha for his contribution to Urdu literature. 

Prof. M. Sayeed Ahmed felicitated Abbas Sharieff, renowned commercial artist and calligrapher. 

Taj Mohammed Khan. Hon. Secretary, Rifahul Muslimeen Educational  Trust, presented memento to Abbas Sharieff in recognition of his extraordinary achievement. 

 Dr. Syed Abdul Khuddus, Hon. Treasurer of the college, inaugurated exhibition of artist Abbas Sharieff. His famous paintings include that of Tipu Sultan, Dr. Zakir Hussain, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Naushad Ali, Swami Vivekananda, Mirza Ghalib, Dr. Mohammed Iqbal, Mohammed Rafi and Dilip Kumar in 1992. 

Abdur Rehman Gowher Tarikervi recited a poem in his honour which was presented by Asfi Rehan. 

Shahwar  Jahan, Convenor of Anjuman-e-Urdu, briefed on Syed Mohammed Memorial Inter-Collegiate Urdu Essay competition. 

College Principal Ilyas Ahmed Khan presented rolling shield to Shaheen Taj of Government PU College People’s Park.

 Earlier the function commenced with Qirath by Zakir MK, Lecturer in Hindi. Seher Sharieff welcomed.  Aliya and group rendered Taran-e-Farooqia. Maaz, II PU Commerce student, recited Taran-e-Urdu. Seher Sharieff presented Taran-e-Taleem. Alia and Maaz sang Gazals. Abubakar of II PU Science compered.

Later an Urdu Mushaira was  presided over by Abdur Rehman Gowher Tarikervi. Syed  Yaseen conducted Nizamath.Prof. Mohammed Ziaulla, Asar Sayeed,  Momina Mukhtar and Khalid Irfan recited their compositions. Muskan of I PU Science proposed a vote of thanks, according to a press release.
