Mysore/Mysuru: On account of Mahalaya Amavasya, Dasara, Deepavali and Kartika Masa, the following Jatras will be held at Malai Mahadeshwara Temple atop M.M. Hills in Hanur taluk of Chamarajanagar district. The temple is governed by Sri Malai Mahadeshwara Kshetra Development Authority.
Mahalaya Amavasya Jatra: The Mahalaya Amavasya Jatra will commence on Sept. 19, followed by Chaturdashi on Sept. 20, during which several rituals will be performed to the deity and Mahalaya Amavasya on Sept. 21, during which special rituals and Utsavas will be performed to the presiding deity.
Dasara Jatra Mahotsava: The 11-day Dasara festival will begin with Sharannavaratri on Sept. 22. Mahanavami and Ayudha Puja on Oct. 1 and Vijayadashami on Oct. 2, during which Kudure Vahanotsava, Dashami Puja and Teppotsava will be performed.
Deepavali Jatra Mahotsava: The Deepavali Jatra will commence from Oct. 18 with special events. On Oct. 19, the presiding deity will be performed Yennemajjana Seva (Oil Bath), followed by special rituals, Naraka Chaturdashi on Oct. 20 and Deepavali Amavasya on Oct. 21. On Oct. 22, the Deepavali Maharathotsava will be held from 9.15 am, following which rituals and Naivedya will be performed and Teppotsava later in the night.
Kartika Somawara Jatra Mahotsava: Kartika Mondays of the year falls on Oct. 27, Nov. 3, Nov. 10 and Nov. 17 (Teppotsava). Also, there will be special rituals at M.M. Hills temple from Nov. 18 to 20, according to a release from the Authority’s Secretary.
