Mysore/Mysuru: JD(S) MLC Marithibbegowda has appealed the electorate to vote for Congress candidates in the May 10 Assembly polls.
Addressing a press meet at Patrakaratara Bhavan here yesterday morning, Marithibbegowda, who has maintained a distance from the JD(S), on which ticket he was elected as the MLC from South Teachers Constituency, appealed the people not to give any scope for a hung Assembly and to support the Congress candidates for providing a stable and able Government.
Pointing out that the State Assembly has been throwing hung verdicts for the past several years (barring 2013), the MLC said that coalition Governments that were formed since 2004 have failed to deliver. As such, the electorate should be wise enough and vote for Congress to save democracy and ensure a capable Government that delivers on poll promises.
Replying to a question on why as an MLC elected from the JD(S) he was campaigning for the Congress, Marithibbegowda said he is miffed with the JD(S) leadership and as such he has maintained a distance from the party for over two years.
Charging the BJP Government of total failure and misrule, he said he might formally join the Congress after the Assembly polls.
Leaders Shankaregowda and Jayaram were present.
