Mysore/Mysuru: Three jewellers were injured after they were allegedly manhandled and assaulted by goldsmiths at Lashkar Mohalla in city on Monday. The trio were treated later at a hospital as outpatients.
Nutan, Chetan and Manoj are those jewellers who had to taste the wrath of goldsmiths who came in a group, for the offer on wastage, that did not go down well with the latter. The three, in a bid to lure the customers, had circulated pamphlets offering to design gold jewels with a wastage of four percent against normal practice of five percent wastage.
Enraged goldsmiths barged into the shop of Manoj on Irwin Road and picked up a wordy duel over the offer. They took severe exception to the offer, citing losses otherwise. Even as the other two jewellers — Nutan and Chetan — joined Manoj in defence, the irked goldsmiths, started manhandling, that later ended in some among them assaulting the trio in the melee, it is said.
Following a complaint by Nutan, Lashkar Police Inspector P.P. Santosh has registered a case and is investigating.
