Journalists recall Vasu’s contributions to society

Mysore/Mysuru: During an event held at Pathrakarthara Bhavan yesterday, journalists gathered to honour the memory of the late former MLA Vasu, who passed away on Mar. 9.

Vasu was not only known for his political career but also as a media entrepreneur who significantly contributed to the field of journalism by providing employment opportunities to many journalists through his newspapers.

In his address at the condolence meeting, senior journalist K. Deepak highlighted Vasu’s contributions. He emphasised that Vasu’s newspaper, ‘Prajanudi’, not only served as a platform for journalism but also served as a source of livelihood for numerous journalists.

He further remarked that Vasu’s organisation didn’t confine itself to journalism and news dissemination but also played a vital role in nurturing and developing many budding journalists, thus leaving an indelible mark on the media landscape. “Vasu’s demise has created a void,” he remarked.

Vasu’s son, Kaveesh Gowda, shared insights into his father’s character, portraying him as someone who embraced life’s challenges with unwavering determination. He reflected on the principles his father instilled in them, crediting Vasu for shaping their lives and enabling them to attain a respected position in society.  Kaveesh expressed a commitment to uphold his father’s legacy by ensuring the continued improvement and excellence of the educational institutions and other organisations that Vasu established and managed.

At the condolence meeting, several journalists recalled their association with Vasu. Senior journalist Prabhurajan, Vasu’s other sons Avish Gowda and Ritesh Gowda were present.
