JSS Academy signs MoUs to further academic, research activities

Mysuru: JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), a deemed to be University focused on medical and health-related studies, presently has 54 collaborations with nationally and internationally acclaimed academic institutions, industry partners, health service providers and research centres.

To further strengthen the academic and research capabilities, JSS AHER has identified few more partners in its pursuit for quality and excellence and signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs).

The MoUs it has signed with includes GlaxoSmithKline Asia Private Limited, Bengaluru and the collaboration is training and research in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The second one is with Seragen Biotherapeutics Private Limited, Bengaluru for technology advancement in stem cell research, stem cell banking and novel therapeutics for regenerative medicine.

JSS AHER will work with Accreate additive labs private limited, Bengaluru, for innovative 3D printing and design services, model making for use in academics and healthcare, bioprinting for tissue 3D printing, drug transportation studies and developing contemporary smarter devices and solutions.

Triphase Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd, Mysuru is another partner with whom the deemed to be University entered into an understanding for R&D in biotechnology and probiotics, development of new methods and technologies in prebiotic and probiotic research.

Some of the academic institutions that JSS AHER has signed MoUs include St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru, for co-operation on new or existing academic programmes, the development of joint research activities, staff exchange or mutual visits to both institutions, Postgraduate student training and development Student exchange and research collaboration in Life sciences, Farooqia College of Pharmacy, Mysuru for academic and research collaboration in Pharmacy and Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru for academic and research collaboration in Health Sciences and faculty and student exchange.

MoUs have also been signed with Philips India Ltd for healthcare – medical devices, data analytics, with Scitus Pharma Services Private Limited, Chennai, for clinical research and development in generic drugs with Jagdale Industries Pvt. Ltd (Juggat Pharma), Bengaluru for consultancy, training and research in pharmaceutical sciences and formulation development for drugs.

Besides, the deemed University will be signing MoU’s with the following international partners in absentia that includes Edge Hill University, United Kingdom, Pacific University, Oregon, USA, Texas Southern University, USA, UCSI University, Malaysia and The University of Bolton, United Kingdom.

JSS AHER Vice-Chancellor Dr. B. Suresh said that the above collaborations will help the deemed University to not only strengthen its capabilities but also share its strength and capabilities with the institutions and industries in the region.

JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C. G. Betsurmath, JSS AHER Registrar Dr. B. Manjunath, Director (Academics) Dr. P.A. Kushalappa and the heads of and representatives from the collaborative institutes were present at the signing of MoUs, according to a press release from the University.
