 “Applied Biotechnological & Biosciences Interventions in New Age Translational Therapeutics”

Mysuru: A National conference on “Applied Biotechnological & Biosciences Interventions in New Age Translational Therapeutics (ABBINATT-2025)” concluded at JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru recently.

JSS AHER had organised the conference in association with the International Applied Biologists Association (IABA).

The conference attracted distinguished researchers, academicians and industry leaders engaged in the fields of biotechnology, biosciences and translational therapeutics.

It was supported by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Keynote address was delivered by Prof. Appa Rao Podile, D.Sc. (Hon.), a distinguished scientist and former Vice-Chancellor, University of Hyderabad.

A Fellow of multiple National Academies, he shared insights on current state of translational therapeutics and the imperative for continuous innovation in biotechnological research.

In his Presidential address, Dr. H. Basavanagowdappa, Vice-Chancellor of JSS AHER, emphasised on the need for interdisciplinary collaboration to accelerate advancements in applied biosciences.

Prof. K.A. Raveesha, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences at JSS AHER, highlighted the institution’s commitment to fostering cutting-edge research in the life sciences domain.

Dr. A.W. Santhosh Kumar, President of IABA and Dr. Kanthesh M. Basalingappa, Organising Secretary of the Conference and Associate Professor at JSS AHER, underscored the event’s role as a platform for knowledge dissemination and professional networking.

The event witnessed a total of 222 registered participants, with significant representation from within Karnataka as well as from other States including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Telangana.

Topics included “Liquid Biopsy in Clinical Oncology,” “Advancements in Molecular Diagnostics,” “Therapeutics in Cancer Research” and “Innovative Approaches in Endocrinology.”

Speakers included Dr. Natarajan Aravindan (Oklahoma State University, USA), Dr. Akhil Srivastava (University of Missouri-Columbia, USA) and Dr. Arindam Banerjee (Life Senz Cancer Research Labs, Mumbai).

In addition to intellectual exchange, ABBINATT-2025 recognised excellence in research through a series of prestigious awards — The Maheshwarappa M. Basalingappa Memorial Award for Best Research Paper, the Prof. Dr. Pasupuleti Vishweswara Rao Young Scientist Award and the Subramaniam Rajalakshmi Young Innovator Award were presented to promising researchers for their contributions to the field.

Furthermore, oral and poster presentation awards were given in recognition of outstanding scholarly work, with gold medals and certificates acknowledging academic achievements in translational biosciences.

Dr. Sandeep M. Eswarappa, Professor at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, delivered the valedictory address, emphasising on the importance of collaborative research in advancing global health initiatives.

Dr. Prashanth M. Vishwanth, Dean of Research at JSS AHER and Dr. Vishal Kumar Gupta, Dean of Academics at JSS AHER also spoke.
